2015 is an important year for development education and global justice. As well as being European Year for Development, the Sustainable Development Goals will be launched in September. These new goals will be universal, applying to all countries in all parts of the world. To reflect this, the focus of IDEA’s Annual Conference is Universality in Action. Join us to discuss what universality actually means in practice and the essential role for development education in ensuring the Sustainable Development Goals deliver universality in action.
Keynote: Joanna Maycock, Secretary General of the European Women's Lobby. Joanna was formerly Head of Europe for Action Aid, and is a former President of CONCORD. She will discuss Universality in Action in the women’s movement, the Sustainable Development Goals and Development Education.
Moderator: Shona Murray, Journalist and presenter of Newstalk's World in Motion.
Conversation Café: Five tables will explore Universality in Action in the context of Development Education and the Sustainable Development Goals. The topics include: Active Citizenship, Human Rights, Campaigning, Gender, and Education.
